Gary Shook Named Chairman-Elect of Virginia Bankers Association
Gary R. Shook, president and CEO of Middleburg Financial Corporation has been named Chairman-Elect of the Virginia Bankers Association (VBA) and will become the Association’s Chairman in 2013.
MIDDLEBURG, Va. – June 21, 2012 – Middleburg Financial Corporation (the “Company”) (Nasdaq: MBRG), announced today that Gary R. Shook, president and CEO of the Company has been named Chairman-Elect of the Virginia Bankers Association (VBA). As Chairman-Elect he is slated to become the Association’s Chairman in 2013.
Commenting on Mr. Shook’s election, Bruce T. Whitehurst, President and CEO of the Virginia Bankers Association said, “Gary has been an active and strong supporter of the Virginia Bankers Association for over 20 years. A proven leader, Gary is well equipped to serve as our Chairman-Elect this year and to chair the VBA next year.”

Mr. Shook holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Virginia and has been with the Company since 2005. From 1995 to 2005, he was Senior Vice President, Fauquier Bankshares, Inc. He has served as a Director of the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, Vice Chairman of the Fauquier Chamber of Commerce; Chairman of the Bluemont Concert Series; President of the Rotary Club of Warrenton; and Senior Warden and Vestryman of St. James’ Episcopal Church. He is a Trustee of the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges and a Member of the CEO Cabinet of Loudoun County.
