I read a recent study which reported that 73 percent of Internet users have used online banking in the past 3 months and that 35 percent have used mobile banking.
While the growth in online banking adoption has slowed in recent years, mobile banking use, in contrast, has doubled since 2011. Just 18 percent of cellphone owners reported that they used mobile banking in 2011, a figure that jumped to 35 percent in the latest study.
This explosion in mobile banking use is not surprising. Mobile devices have become ubiquitous and their utility has changed how many of us shop, communicate and navigate. This behavioral change has extended to banking as well, as today’s mobile apps allow you to check balances, transfer funds, pay bills, deposit checks, find our nearest location and contact us with the click of a button. With all of this convenience in the palm of your hand, it’s no wonder that so many people have embraced mobile banking.

Since its launch, nearly 4,000 people have downloaded the mobile app. We enhanced the app in December and added the ability to deposit checks into your account simply by taking a picture of it.
