As Middleburg Bank continues to grow, our involvement in the communities we serve remains a strong focus. Our employees give generously of their time to help many local causes.
March of Dimes
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature births, and infant mortality. Contributing $7,130.00, the Middleburg Bank Team was once again one of the top fundraising teams in Loudoun County for the 2007 April March of Dimes Walk. This donation was made possible by a combination of our company contribution, funds raised by our bank employees who participated in the walkathon, and several fundraising activities organized at our financial service centers.
American Cancer Society's Relay For Life
In 2007, Middleburg Bank celebrated its tenth year as a participant in the Relay for Life, a walkathon that benefits the American Cancer Society. For the last eight years, the bank has been awarded the trophy for the Top Fundraising Team! This year brought the bank to an impressive ten year contribution total of $180,062.96. For the 2007 May event, the bank's fundraising efforts, which included selling candy bars in each financial service center and raffling off numerous fabulous prizes, raised $19,899.50 for the fight against cancer.
Student Programs
Middleburg Bank was recognized at the 2007 Annual Loudoun School-Business Partnership Breakfast as being one of the top five partners in the program. Activities with the local elementary schools include banking days at Coleman, Sully, Tolbert, Banneker, and Mill Run Elementary Schools. Banking education for students is promoted through visits to schools and also by the bank hosting student groups to tour the financial service centers. Middleburg Bank volunteers also give their time to many school programs, such as: Career Day and Field Day at Tolbert Elementary; Ethics and Leadership Day at Stone Bridge High School; the Reality Store Program at Loudoun Valley High and Stone Bridge High, where each student is given, at random, a career, a salary and a family situation and through role playing, must make financial decisions; Job-For-A-Day, which gives students the opportunity to spend a day "on the job" in the field of their choice.
Bluemont Concerts
Middleburg Bank is billed as sponsor for three Bluemont concerts this summer. Additionally, our employees volunteer at the concerts by greeting guests, taking admissions, and helping the Bluemont staff as needed.
Supporting The Community
Middleburg Bank employees help in organizing and working at several fundraisers throughout our community. This year, support was given to help with the Loudoun Valley DECA Fashion Show and the Miss Loudoun County Pageant fundraisers. Several softball, baseball, and other sports teams are sponsored by the bank. Local schools and churches also receive contributions for their activities. The arts programs are supported in several ways, including the Middleburg Players and the Sterling Playmakers.
